ooh christmas, my favourite time of year, is back! in two jolly weeks, we will once again experience the joy of christmas! WHEEim totally in love with roast turkey with cranberry sauce. hahah i had it at some christmas party. SO DELICIOUSS.so im gonna write a christmas poem.Christmas, ah!
What did you say was coming?
Great Singapore Sale, you say?
No, lah, not again too soon,
This time it’s Christmas Day!
You see already the Orchard light-up,
That lends merry festive cheer?
Strolling down our favourite street
To soak up the atmosphere.
Nothing is better this season than
Tang’s stunning decorations, Taka’s giant Christmas tree.
Eh, don’t forget Centrepoint’s M&M-inspired façade
Battling, tooth and nail, for all the Christmas glory.
Christmas offers up for grabs,
How? Don’t rush me, I can’t decide at all!
To buy, or not to buy?
Aiyah, better give da-sao a call.
Can’t think of anything to do?
Just pop down to the Esplanade.
To listen to timeless Christmas songs
By the SSO* brilliantly played.
Eh, What’s your Chrismas wish this year?
A diamond ring of a lovely fee?
Or the practical ones amongst us may say,
Pay raise, lower tax and banished ERP.
Uncle Tan, Auntie Lin,
Come to our Christmas party!
For Christmas calls for much family bonding,
Maybe to top it all of, a durian-eating spree!
So that’s the Singaporean perspective of Christmas
No holly, no Santa, no mistletoe.
Only our dear loved ones, throw in a Christmas tree.
And our tropical climate means, sorry ah, boh snow!
*Singapore Symphony Orchestrawow! my hokkien is not bad. hahaah okay this is an attempt to write a poem with a uniquely local flavour. haah what do you think?
ooh and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
